About This Map

The Map of Morningside – North Highlands Virginia Highlands was printed in 1926 and covers the northern part of Virginia Highland and the south west side of Morningside. This subdivision map was produced by O.F. Kauffman, a family run civil engineering firm. There are approximately 25 different streets on this map and it covers about 350 acres north of Virginia Avenue and south of Pelham Avenue.

This map is unusual because it is one of the first plans of Virginia Highland. It is also very large which made reproducing the map in 1926 very difficult. The original from which the reproductions are made from is the only known legible copy. The official version that was recorded in the Fulton County records room is illegible.

This map is printed on 100% cotton fiber archival paper and measures 34¼” x 46¼”. The framed piece measures 37 ¾” x 50” and is available exclusively at GLS Archives.
