In 1895, just 30 years after the Civil War, Atlanta was competing to be a world class City. The Cotton States and International Exposition was intended to further this agenda. It was held from September 18^th 1895 to December 31st 1895. The fair lasted 100 days and helped to showcase Georgia to the world promoting new technologies and products. The construction cost at the time was 2 million dollars and was shared between the government and business owners.

This view was most likely captured from a hot air balloon and is a combination of architectural plans, maps and artistic license used to create a panoramic view to promote the fair. This print is extremely rare and the original is one of only two known copies. The large size of this piece made it extremely difficult and expensive to produce. Each individual color was printed separately, requiring its own huge lithographic stone, state of the art at the time.

The print measures 46” X 33 “and the framed copy is 50 ½” X 37 ½”. Because of the large size of the original we are offering a reduced size print at 24” X 36” the framed version measures 28 ½” X 40 ½”.
